I recently wrote a tutorial For Advanced Photoshop Magazine (UK). In the tutorial I show, step by step how to create this image and use it for a range of desktops and mobile devices. Its Issue 66, which is out now! . It has lots of great content from a host of designers and I’m very honored to be included :) .

Ever since I saw the movie Predator as a kid,  I’ve always wanted a cool, all in one device that could electronically assist me in my day to day life. Hunting Schwarzenegger aside, the new range of touch screen multifunctionals seem to do everything I need.

Trouble is, since the success of the iphone, it seems that manufacturers are trying to emulate it by producing their own shiny rectangular design, instead of going for something new.

Although the new breed of touch phones seem great, they don’t really excite the designer in me. I would personally hate seeing a store once filled with cool, unusual phones reduced to row after row of shiny rectangles.

Thankfully it seems like that spirit hasn’t died, au Design Project and Yamaha teamed up to design this amazing ‘Band in my pocket’ prototype phone (see above). The phone features clip on Harmonica, Trumpet and other interfaces that turn your run of the mill phone into, well, a band in your pocket! :) .

Check out the Prototype Website with even more cool phone concepts.

Inspired by Ancient Cultures, Artist Dominic Brown’s abstract compositions, such as ‘On the Edge of Dimension 13′ (shown above), are a striking use of bold colours, hand drawn abstract lines and a ton of imagination.

Check out Domonics Website and Deviant Art Gallery for more equally accomplished work.

I’ve been a fan of Graffiti since I first saw it, over 20 years ago. I ‘ve seen it evolve, take on a set of standard forms and then evolve again. As a fan and designer I like to see Graffiti pushed on, past the standard type forms, while still retaining the bold, exciting essence of Graffiti/Hip hop.

Giedrius aka Giega is a Lithuanian Graffiti artist using complex organic forms to develop a style that both takes the Artform forward, while still being rooted in Graffiti tradition. Throwing up intricate one off pieces on walls, while sketching out an abstract organic style that dazzles and doesnt rely on lettering.

Check out his Gallery at Deviant Art for some very inspiring Art.

This months Photoshop creative magazine features a news article on Juice Box Visual, explaining the intent of the site, a brief description of the content and some very kind words. The Article features two of my wallpapers Wired and Spin. The Free CD includes three of my brush sets, as well as  lots of other resources from some very good designers.

The Magazine itself has alot of useful, straight forward Photoshop Tutorials that cover core topics, such as getting to grips with the Pen tool.

Thanks to everyone at Photoshop Creative for the feature, check out their website for a hive of photoshop related activity ;)
